How to choose your Competition Standard Taekwondo Mats?
As we all know, Taekwondo is a highly competitive sport, and most of the trainers are barefoot, so there are often falls and bruises in the course of practice.
Taekwondo mat is made of EVA plastic particles and pigments (color master batch) foamed at high temperature. Its biggest feature is small stomata, good elasticity, good cushioning and shock-proof effect, which plays a protective role for trainers. Its surface uses a variety of patterns at the same time with anti-skid effect.
Taekwondo mat has different patterns, such as T-pattern, wood pattern, five lines pattern, square pattern, etc. The deeper of the pattern, the rougher. The higher friction, the better anti-skid performance.
However, the World Taekwondo Federation has not yet made specific numerical provisions on the anti-skid degree of the mat, which has brought great difficulties to suppliers and competition departments. Therefore, stepping on the mat has become the only means to feel the anti-skid degree of the mat.
1. Taekwondo EVA Mat Requirements
Thickness: The hardness of the pad should be over 65% and the pad should be thick enough to ensure not only high elasticity and tension, but also good cushioning and shock-proof effect.
Preventive: The puzzle tatami mat must be waterproof, moisture proof, heat preservation and cold proof.
Isolation: The effect of sound insulation should be outstanding.
Stripe: Stripe should be clear, bright color, strong friction and good anti-skid performance.
Edge: The four edges of each mat should be jointed seamlessly to ensure safety.
2. Taekwondo Mat Application
It is suitable for Taekwondo Hall, Martial Arts Hall, Kindergarten, Dance Room, Fitness Room, Gymnasium and other occasions.
3. Taekwondo Mat Specification
The common size is 100cm long and 100cm wide, 2.0cm for standard type, 2.5cm for competition type and 3.0cm for thickening type respectively. The mother and child teeth are spliced and connected closely. The general pattern has T-pattern and five lines pattern. The color is generally red and blue on both sides, yellow and blue on both sides, and yellow and green on both sides.
4. Taekwondo Mats Laying
When laying Taekwondo mattress, it should be laid from inside to outside, especially for irregular Taekwondo hall. This method can ensure that the EVA puzzle mats in the field are laid closely. Taekwondo mat splicing gap must be tight splicing, in order to avoid sprain and strain caused by athletes' toes embedded in the gap during training.
For the Taekwondo hall, due to the particularity of the house structure and the removal of the side strips. After the Taekwondo mat installment, there will be some corners. We can leave a part of the leftovers in reserve and replace the damaged Taekwondo mat in the future.
